LAWTON – Registered Texas Longhorns will compete in measurement classes and offered for sale during the 20th Annual TLBAA Horn Showcase.

The Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America begins its fifth consecutive year at the Comanche County Fairgrounds Oct. 4-5, 2019. More than 215 Texas Longhorns will be on-site in Lawton for the premier measuring event for the breed. Another 155 animals will be measured across the country at satellite locations the week before to be eligible for the prestigious titles awarded each year.

Three of the longest-horned animals in the industry will be present to be measured in Lawton this year. Applications have already been submitted and, if they are the longest horned bull/cow/steer, the required documentation will be to be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records. They will be an impressive sight no matter the outcome.

In addition to the measuring contest and Futurity, where the overall animal is judged in addition to the horn length, there will be several seminars available to learn more about the Texas Longhorn industry. On Saturday, 66 select registered Texas Longhorn heifers and bred cows will be offered for sale at the Coliseum. These animals represent the premier offerings by breeders showcasing their herds. An awards banquet will be held at the Fairgrounds immediately preceding the sale.
