Illegal entry to U.S. is a frequent charge in OKC’s federal court

OKLAHOMA CITY – When President Biden declared during his State of the Union address Tuesday night that securing the U.S. border and fixing the immigration system are critical, many Oklahoma residents nodded in agreement.

In the past five months 15 Hispanic men have been charged in Oklahoma City’s federal district court with illegal entry or re-entry into the United States. Several are multiple offenders.

          Ÿ Oraldo Gaxiola-Reynaga, 32, was indicted last month for being in Oklahoma on Dec. 9, 2021, after previous deportations in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. His arraignment is scheduled for March 17.

          Ÿ Jesus Manuel Hernandez-Campos, 40, was indicted in January for being back in Oklahoma last May even though he was deported in 2020 after serving four months in prison for illegal re-entry into the U.S. And prior to that he was deported in 2003.

          Ÿ Javier Arturo Maese-Munoz, 36, returned to Oklahoma this year despite prior deportations in 2005, 2009 and 2012. He is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service while awaiting trial in federal district court in April.

          Ÿ Miguel Hernandez-Marin, 31, has been in custody since December 2019 when he was arrested in Oklahoma County on multiple felony charges and was found to have been removed from the U.S. twice: in 2010 and again in 2014. After two years of incarceration in a state prison for convictions on a dozen state felony offenses, Hernandez-Marin pleaded guilty in OKC federal district court to his third illegal entry into the United States. District Judge Stephen P. Friot sentenced Hernandez-Marin on Feb. 22 to 18 months in the custody of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, after which he is to be deported again.

          Ÿ Pedro Flores-Guerrero, 33, was indicted for being in Oklahoma last November despite previously being deported in 2010 and again in 2016. His arraignment in federal court is set for March 17.

          Ÿ Luis Carlos Mauricio-Morales, 39, was in Oklahoma illegally last October after prior removals from the U.S. in 2011 and again in 2015. He pleaded guilty, and sentencing is set for March 24.

          Ÿ Joran Monterroso-DeLeon, 30, was in Oklahoma illegally when he was arrested in 2019, after previous deportations from the U.S. in 2010 and 2014. He pleaded guilty and is to be sentenced March 25.

          Ÿ Jesus Diaz-Sosa, 40, was deported from the U.S. in 2010 and in 2014, and was in Oklahoma illegally when arrested last August. He pleaded guilty on Feb. 24 and is awaiting sentencing.

          Ÿ David Juarez-Silverstre, 33, was deported from the U.S. in 2018 but was captured in Oklahoma last year. Court records show he is in the custody of the state Department of Corrections, participating in a substance abuse program. He pleaded guilty to seven felony drug and weapons charges in Oklahoma County in 2014 and received concurrent six-year prison sentences, but served less than half that time.

          Ÿ Cesar Ivan Morin, 32, and Jose Luis Chacon-Saldana, 46, were arrested in Oklahoma last year after entering the U.S. illegally a second time; both were previously deported in 2016. Both pleaded guilty in federal court and await sentencing.

          Ÿ Jose Urbano Gutierrez-Angeles, 33, was arrested in January for being in Oklahoma illegally despite previous removals from the U.S. in 2009, 2010 and 2020. His court arraignment is scheduled for March 15.

          Ÿ Enrique Martinez-Rincon, 36, and Edgar Macias-Ramirez, 34, were both in the U.S. illegally when arrested in western Oklahoma last November. Both were deported from the U.S. in 2011. They are to be arraigned later this month.

          Ÿ Santos Orellana, 47, deported in 2009, was in Oklahoma illegally when arrested in January. He has not made an initial court appearance yet.
