DAVIDSON — A Tillman County man was arrested Sunday after he opened fire on deputies conducting an investigation in Davidson.

A report from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation indicates deputies were in Davidson investigating an incident that occurred the previous day when they approached a residence in the 200 block of West Grand. Before deputies could ring the doorbell, someone opened fire on them from within the residence.

OSBI reports deputies returned fire as they sought cover from the gunfire coming from inside the residence. As the exchange of gunfire continued, Tillman County deputies requested backup from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. OHP’s Tactical Team and Frederick police officers responded to the call for help.

According to the OSBI report, as OHP troopers and Frederick police officers took up positions to provide support to Tillman County deputies, Kim Filmore, 63, of Davidson, came out the front door of the residence carrying a rifle.

“He placed the rifle on the ground and was immediately taken into custody,” OSBI reports.

Fillmore was transported to the Tillman County Jail.

Authorities were conducting an investigation into reports that Filmore was shooting at people from his truck Saturday. Deputies tracked Filmore to his residence, where Sunday’s gun fight ensued.

Tillman County Sheriff Bill Ingram’s hand was injured when one of the bullets allegedly fired by Filmore struck nearby glass. Ingram was treated at a nearby hospital and released.
