OKLAHOMA CITY – More than $2 million will be spent to rehabilitate two bridges on US-62 near Altus and Duke.

The bridge spanning Bitter Creek in the eastbound lanes of four-lane US-62, a little under three miles west of US-283, will have all of its components repaired, said Jackson Mayberry of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).

That bridge, which is a short distance east of South County Road 201, carries approximately 4,300 vehicles per day, on average, ODOT research indicates.

In a separate job, the bridge straddling Turkey Creek on a two-lane section of US-62 about a mile and a half west of Duke will receive a new deck. Only one lane of the structure will be under construction at any given time “so the highway will not be closed,” Mayberry said.

That bridge is crossed by approximately 2,700 vehicles daily, ODOT reported.

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission awarded a $2,365,212 contract on the two bridge rehab projects to B&B Construction Service of Clayton. ODOT allot- ted 220 days for completion of the work after construction starts.
