LAWTON — This year marks the 65th year Lawton AMBUCS has hosted its annual Pancake Day to raise funds for community members with mobility issues and disabilities.

AMBUCS, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that began in 1922, has grown to include more than 3,500 members across 30 states.

Through partnerships with occupational and physical therapists, AMBUCS inspires mobility and independence, provides scholarships for therapists, and promotes community service initiatives.

The Lawton chapter was chartered in 1953. Since then, countless individuals with mobility issues have benefitted from the organization.

From 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 1, Lawton AMBUCS will be at the Great Plains Coliseum, 920 SW Sheridan Road, to serve pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage to hungry supporters. Advance tickets are $8. At the door, $10.

In the interest of public health, this year’s Pancake Day will also feature a drive-up. Patrons can drive up and order from an AMBUCS representative, said Larry Holcomb, Lawton AMBUCS publicity chairperson.

Tickets are available by contacting any Lawton AMBUCS member or calling (580) 585-1304.
