Lawton to end mask requirement Monday

LAWTON – Starting Monday, the city of Lawton will not require people to wear masks in city-managed buildings.

A recent decline in the number of active COVID-19 cases, as reported by the Oklahoma State Department of Health, prompted officials to end the mask requirement as of 8 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from City Hall.

“The wearing of masks is still strongly recommended for all staff and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, along with continued social distancing,” the city said. “This measure has been taken with the belief that the number of active COVID-19 cases within Comanche County will continue to decline.”

The city said officials will continue monitoring the county’s case status, and policies for city-managed buildings are subject to change
