Lawton City Hall will be open an hour later each day during the week. starting later this month.
The building will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday as of March 20, city officials said in a press release. The change will remain in effect on a trial basis for 180 days.
The Lawton City Council recently adopted an ordinance modifying the city code to remove the standard 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. working hours for employees.
The city manager will allow employees to modify their work schedules to work four 10-hour days. However, each department at City Hall will always be staffed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For example, in each department, half of the employees would work Monday through Thursday while the other half works Tuesday through Friday.
“Not only does this give citizens an opportunity to do business at City Hall outside normal working hours, but it is also an extra benefit to employees, giving them an extra day off during the week,” officials said in the press release.
