Research performed at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health showed that sales at alcohol retail stores during the first three quarters of 2020, during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, increased by 20% over the first three quarters of 2019.

The beer industry generated sales of more than $331 billion in 2020 – equivalent to almost 2% of the U.S. gross domestic product that year.

On average, Americans in 2020 quaffed almost 26 gallons of beer per adult aged 21 or older, Beer Serves America reported.

Beer consumption per U.S. adult, the Beer Institute reported last year, totaled:
