OKLAHOMA CITY - Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell recently announced the addition of Kirby Smith to his staff.

In this new role Ms. Smith will travel the state implementing the Lt. Governor’s mission of supporting economic development, advocating for small businesses, and promoting tourism.

“I’m incredibly excited that Kirby has joined our team,” said Pinnell. “I’ve known Kirby for years and have been impressed with the work she’s done in western Oklahoma for Congressman Lucas. Kirby knows the state thoroughly and has a particular expertise in rural issues. She will be a huge asset to my office.”

“I think it’s a privilege to serve Oklahomans,” said Ms. Smith. “I’m excited to expand that work to include all 77 counties in this new role with Lt. Governor Pinnell.”

Ms. Smith will serve as a liaison for the Lt. Governor to Oklahoma communities. In this role, she will work directly with community and state leaders and organizations to advance the Lt. Governor’s work on economic development and tourism.

Ms. Smith has a history of working to empower communities. She brings years of experience in building partnerships and advocating for rural Oklahomans. She joins the Lt. Governor’s team after serving nearly five years as a field representative for Oklahoma Congressman Frank D. Lucas where she oversaw agricultural issues. Her previous experience also includes three years working for Oklahoma’s Secretary of Agriculture.

Raised in rural Beckham County, Smith is a fourth generation western Oklahoman. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a master’s degree in agricultural communications.
