ANADARKO — March 10 is the last day to apply for voter registration to be eligible to vote in the April 4 elections, Caddo County Election Board Secretary Joy Ferrell said.
School elections will be held in the Cement and Verden school districts; municipal elections are scheduled in the city of Anadarko and the towns of Cement, Cyril and Hinton; and special elections are slated in Caddo County, the town of Hinton and the Cordell school district.
Individuals who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma and at least 17½ years of age are eligible to apply for voter registration; however, they must be at least 18 years old to vote, Ferrell said.
Applications for voter registration must be received by the county election board or postmarked no later than midnight March 10. Applications postmarked after that time will be accepted but will not be processed until after the April 4 election, Ferrell said.
Applications also can be submitted by the submission deadline to any motor vehicle agency that is also an official voter registration site.
Applicants will be notified in writing when their application has been processed. Approved voters will receive a voter identification card in the mail; some people may receive a letter that explains the reason(s) their application was not approved.
Those who do not receive a response within 30 days of submitting their application should contact the county election board office immediately, Ferrell said.
Registered voters who have moved to Caddo County from a different county or state will need to complete a new voter registration application in order to be eligible to vote in elections in Caddo County.
If you have moved within the county and need to update your address, you can make changes online using the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp or complete a voter registration application.
Voter registration applications can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections. A form also can be completed at the county election board. Most post offices, tag agencies, and public libraries have applications available upon request.
The Caddo County Election Board is located at the County Courthouse, 110 SW Second St., Suite 112, Anadarko, and is open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
