MEDICINE PARK – Medicine Park officials are considering setting up a shuttle service that could make it easier for visitors to get around town.
The Medicine Park Board of Trustees voted 4-0 March 21 to work with the Medicine Park Economic Development Authority on the issue and research the cost of buying a passenger van for the service. Board member Rich Amadon was absent.
Business owner Dianne Chadwick said a shuttle service that runs on the weekends would make the town more attractive to tourists, which would benefit local businesses.
“We don’t need to convince people to come to our town. They want to come,” Chadwick said. “So let’s get some public transportation. Let’s get a plan in motion and get them.”
Trustee Dwight Cope said the Medicine Park Economic Development Authority has discussed the possibility of establishing a shuttle service in the past.
“It really is kind of an MPEDA thing,” he said. “So maybe they should get involved with this deal and come up with a committee or a plan.”
