LAWTON — State Sen. John Michael Montgomery will be the new president and CEO of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce starting Aug. 1, the Chamber recently announced.
“Montgomery brings a wealth of leadership experience and a proven track record of success, making him the ideal candidate to lead our organization into the future,” the Chamber said. “With a deep understanding of the Lawton-Fort Sill business community and a passion for driving economic growth, John Michael Montgomery is poised to make a significant impact on our region. His strategic vision and commitment to collaboration will strengthen our partnerships and foster an environment where businesses can thrive.”
Throughout his career as a state senator, Montgomery has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, fostering innovation and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, the Chamber said. His background in strategic planning, business development, and community engagement will be instrumental in advancing the Chamber’s goals and objectives.
“We are delighted to welcome John Michael Montgomery as our new president and CEO,” said Dustin Hilliary, chairman of the Chamber’s board of directors. “His experience and passion for our community make him the perfect fit to lead our organization. We are confident that under his guidance, we will continue to strengthen our local business ecosystem and enhance the economic vitality of Lawton-Fort Sill."
As president and CEO of the Montgomery will oversee the implementation of key initiatives aimed at supporting local businesses, attracting new investments, and advocating for policies that foster economic growth, according to the news release. He will work closely with the Chamber's dedicated team and board of directors to provide strategic leadership and drive impactful outcomes for our members.
Montgomery said he was excited about serving as the Chamber president.
"Lawton Fort Sill has a vibrant business community with immense potential, and I look forward to continuing the work that Dr. Krista Ratliff began -- collaborating with our stakeholders to create an environment where businesses can thrive, jobs can grow, and our community can prosper,” he said. “Together, we will build a prosperous future for Lawton Fort Sill."
When asked Friday whether he will be a candidate for the state Senate District 32 seat vacated by Montgomery, state Rep. Daniel Pae (R-Lawton) told Southwest Ledger, “I have no comment on that topic.”
Pae did say, “I am happy for John and this new opportunity for him to spend more time with his family. He has been an excellent senator. Whoever takes his place will have big shoes to fill.”
