MOUNTAIN PARK – The Mountain Park Board of Trustees took steps May 10 to improve the quality of the town’s water.
The board unanimously approved an engineering report that wrapped up efforts to reduce the amount of total trihalomethanes (TTHM) in the water supply, said Town Clerk Kelly Harmon. Trihalomethanes result from a reaction between the chlorine used to disinfect tap water and natural organic matter in the water.
The task, which cost the town about $2,500, was performed by Parkhill/Cardinal Engineering.
The town is planning to build a new station that would address the TTHM issue but hasn’t begun the project yet. Funding for the project, which must be completed by May 2022, comes from a community development block grant.
