LAWTON — Lawton Public Library is celebrating Picture Book Month with a picture book contest in November.

Contestants are asked to write and illustrate a winter-themed picture book, according to a news release from the library. Entries must be on paper measuring 17 inches long by 11 inches high. Participants may pick up paper at the library or use their own paper.

Books should be 13 numbered pages, including the cover. Submissions will be accepted until Nov. 27, and winners will be contacted by Nov. 29.

One winner will be selected from the following age ranges: 6-9 years old, 10-13 and 14-18. Winners will receive a prize, and their book will be displayed for one month at the Story Walk at Elmer Thomas Park.

The competition doesn’t end there. The library will host a “Dabble in Scrabble” event from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday. This event is open to rule followers and cheaters of all ages.
