Oklahoma Gas and Electric’s parent company, OGE Energy Corp., is taking steps to help Oklahomans who need food, water and temporary housing after October’s ice storm.

OGE Energy Corp. is donating $500,000 to storm relief and is teaming up with United Way of Central Oklahoma; Heartline Inc., which operates the 211 hotline; and Upward Transitions Inc. to administer the funds. Those organizations will connect Oklahomans with resources through a network of non- profits working on disaster relief efforts.

“Line crews are working tirelessly throughout our service area to quickly and safely restore power to the communities we serve,” said Sean Trauschke, chairman, president and CEO of OGE Energy Corp, in a news release. “We know

Oklahomans will continue to struggle with lingering impacts caused by this ice storm, which is why we are partnering with United Way to enable nonprofits on the front line to do more to help.”

United Way of Central Oklahoma agencies Heartline and Upward Transitions will centralize the relief efforts. The agencies will work together to ensure Oklahomans are connected with the right organization for their needs.

Anyone who was affected by storm damage and needs assistance with temporary housing, food or other concerns should call Heartline at 211 today.

OG&E is using its logistics expertise and resources to identify and secure housing options. The utility will work with Heartline and Upward Transitions to support their efforts to identify temporary housing for people who need it.
