Oklahoma rainfall averages 1.30 inches

Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 1.30 inches for the week of March 21-27.

Drought conditions were rated 87% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, down five points from the previous week, according to the March 22 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 77% of the state was in the moderate to exceptional drought category, down 10 points from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the lower 50s. Topsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to short, while subsoil moisture conditions were rated short to very short.

Here’s a look at how crops fared for the week:

Small grains: Winter wheat jointing reached 15%, down 29 points from the previous year and 26 points from normal.

Rye jointing reached 8%, down 14 points from the previous year and 23 points from normal.

Oats jointing reached 7%, down two points from the previous year and seven points from normal

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 66% fair to good. Livestock condition was rated at 89% good to fair.
