Oklahoma rainfall averages less than 1 inch

From staff reports Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 0.14 inches for the week of June 10-16, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The June 11 U.S. Drought Monitor Report said drought conditions were rated 27% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, down 38 points from last year. Additionally, 16% of the state was in the moderate to exceptional drought categories, down 33 points from the previous year.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the upper 70s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated adequate to short. There were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork.

Here’s a look at how crops fared for the week of June 10-16: Small grains: Winter wheat harvest continued across most parts of the state. Winter wheat harvested reached 83%, up 35 points from the previous week and 46 points from normal.

Canola coloring reached 95%, up 10 points from the previous week and six points from normal. Canola harvested reached 70%, up 56 points from the previous week and 37 points from normal.

Rye harvested reached 79%, up 51 points from the previous week and 44 points from normal.

Oats headed reached 95%, up five points from the previous week and 11 points from normal. Oats harvested reached 19%, up 10 points from the previous week and from normal.

Row crops: Corn silking reached 12%, up seven points from the previous week and eight points fromnormal.

Sorghum planted reached 74%, up 20 points from the previous week and 21 points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 75%, up 25 points from the previous week and 16 points from normal. Soybeans emerged reached 25 percent, up 18 points from previous week.

Peanuts planted reached 95%, up five points from the previous week and 15 points from normal.

Upland cotton planted reached 70%, up 16 points from the previous week and one point from normal.

Hay: The first cutting of alfalfa hay reached 82%, up four points from the previous week and up three points from normal. The second cutting of alfalfa hay reached 14%, up 14 points from the previousweek but down six points from normal.

The first cutting of other hay reached 78%, up 21 points from the previous week and 17 points from normal.

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 77% good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 85% good to fair.
