MINNEAPOLIS — Polaris Off Road’s new purpose-built, race-ready utility terrain vehicle was unveiled recently.
Based on Polaris’ RZR Pro R platform, the RZR Pro R Factory is engineered to thrive against the demands of open-desert racing, the company announced March 16. The vehicle will be the centerpiece of Polaris’ recently announced Polaris Factory Racing team.
“Since the early days when automotive OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) drove the evolution of off-road racing, to the modern factory racing programs that exist today in auto racing, every legitimate factory racing program has been built around the development of a purpose-built race vehicle, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with the RZR Pro R Factory,” Polaris Off Road Recreation Vice President Reid Wilson said in the news release.
Race-tuned power
The heart of the RZR Pro R Factory is the ProStar Fury 2.OL, a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that generates 225 horsepower in its stock form, the company said. The RZR Pro Factory includes large rear-mounted radiators and uses Polaris Lubricants PS4 Extreme synthetic engine oil, which maximize performance and allow factory drivers to push the vehicle further in harsh conditions.
“In addition, a racing-calibrated driveline with race-tuned transmission provides maximum power to the ground,” the company said. “At the same time, high-strength, lightweight materials increase the overall power-to-weight ratio for maximized performance from start to finish.”
Desert-proven strength
The RZR Pro Factory has a high-strength, lightweight chassis, making it ready for any global race. The vehicle also features 35-inch BFGoodrich tires to maximize power while staying secure on Method Race Wheels with exclusive Bead Grip technology.
A full skid plate, front and rear Baja bumpers and a cage ensure that key components of the vehicle are protected, according to the news release. In addition, integrated mounts for spare tires, a jack and tool kits allow factory racers to tackle each race course with confidence.
