OKLAHOMA CITY – Public Service Co. of Oklahoma has temporarily suspended all disconnections for unpaid bills.

“PSO has temporarily suspended disconnection of service to provide customers with short-term relief so they can focus on staying healthy,” said Peggy Simmons, the utility company’s president and chief operating officer.

In addition, “We’re using technology to allow some employees to work remotely. We’re instructing our line workers and others who interact with the public on how to minimize exposure and avoid spread” of the coronavirus.

PSO provides electricity to more than three dozen cities and towns in southwest Oklahoma, including Lawton, Cache, Elgin, Fletcher, Duncan and Altus.

“We urge customers to make every effort to keep their accounts current during the period when disconnections are suspended,” Sim- mons said. If you anticipate problems paying your electric bill, please contact us to discuss payment options.”

Because of the “evolving nature of this pandemic and uncertainty around its impacts,” PSO has not determined when service disconnections will resume, Simmons said.

PSO customers are still responsible for all billed electricity. Customers who anticipate problems paying their electric bill should call the utility company at 1-888-216- 3523 to discuss payment options, or through our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.

“We will work with you to set up payment arrangements and make appropriate accommodations,” Simmons said. “Keeping up with payment arrangements will ensure you remain in good standing and will remain connected once normal operations resume.”
