Rep. Daniel Pae, R-Lawton

Body

Following a rushed end to the legislative session this year due to COVID-19, the agendas of many politicians drastically changed. Representative Daniel Pae looks forward to his re-election next week to continue the work he has done for District 62 and the State of Oklahoma.

“There was a lot of legislation we couldn’t see because of the global pandemic,” Pae told Kyle Payne with the Texoma News Network earlier this month. He is ready to get back to work and “address economic repercussions from the global pandemic, particularly in small business trying to give them relief.”

Based on his record so far, he deserves our full support in seeking his second term.

Pae is a lifelong Lawtonian, born and raised to be hardworking and community-driven. His family has owned and operated a local dry-cleaning business for decades, and Pae’s interactions with the business have helped shape his values.

Representative Pae understands the plight of small businesses and their true importance to the local economy. He knows that protecting small businesses from increased regulation and taxation is vital to allow for long-term growth. Local businesses keep money in the local economy, which stimulates growth and job creation where it matters most--our community.

Representative Pae was chosen to the NextGen under 30 class of  2019, a statewide program that recognizes young professionals under 30 years of age who demonstrate leadership, community service, and professional achievements.

In addition, Pae participated in the fall session of the 2019 Southern Legislative Conference of The Council of State Governments. Each year, CALS brings together select officials from three branches of government in 15 Southern states to refine their leadership skills in a nonpartisan environment. His commitment to his constituents is clear, representing District 62 isn’t just a job for him, it’s a passion.

In his first term as State Representative, Daniel Pae has risen to the rank of Vice-Chair on the Government Efficiency Committee and holds prominent seats on the County and Municipal Government, Veteran and Military Affairs, and Appropriations & Budgeting for Human Services committees.

During the 57th Legislature, Pae authored 30 different measures in the House, and his first major legislation finally was implemented in August 2020, as the OTA and ODOT approved the increase to maximum speed limits along with certain areas of turnpikes in Oklahoma. House Bill 1071, the “Paeway Bill” was signed into law by Governor Stitt in the spring of 2019.

Pae will face a familiar opponent in the general election--Democrat Larry Bush--whom he beat by a slim 42 votes in 2018. Bush also ran for the seat in 2016, losing to State Senator John Michael Montgomery.

Let’s send Daniel Pae back to Oklahoma City to continue to serve Lawtonians with passion and zeal as the State Representative for District 62.
