- This residence at 2502 SW I Ave. was one of 10 houses and two commercial properties condemned May 28 by the Lawton City Council. A three-wheeled, pedal-powered cycle approximately 6 feet long is parked on the roof of the house, and homeless people have been living in the back yard, Neighborhood Services Supervisor Josh White said. The property is owned by a Lawtonian and has had an inactive water account for 12 years, municipal records reflect.
- The completion date for a new drainage culvert in Lawton at Northeast 29th Street and Heritage Drive has been pushed back to June 20. Seventeen calendar days were added to the $622,000 contract because a 10-inch sanitary sewer line must be encased in concrete and because of weather. A corrugated metal pipe that channels water from a tributary of Wrattan Creek has been replaced with a three-cell steel-reinforced concrete box. Lawton City Council awarded the contract to K&R Builders in December.
