Rig Report: Oklahoma steady while national rig count declines

From staff reports The nation saw a drop of four oil and gas rigs in the past week, leaving 580 still active across the different states, according to the latest Baker Hughes rig count released Friday.

Oklahoma remained at 43 rigs, the count from the previous week and one more than the 42 rigs reported a year ago. Nationally, the decline of four rigs included a drop of two oil rigs to 478 and two gas rigs to 98. The number of miscellaneous rigs was unchanged at four.

The U.S. count is now 40 below the 620 reported one year ago and the decline included a loss of 19 oil rigs and 22 gas rigs while the miscellaneous rig count added one. The U.S. offshore rig count was unchanged at 14 while it was six fewer than one year ago.

Texas recorded a loss of one rig to 281 while New Mexico was unchanged at 103 and North Dakota’s count declined by four to 32 rigs. Colorado remained at nine rigs, the same count in Ohio.

The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas showed a loss of one rig, leaving 17 active rigs in the state. Pennsylvania continued with 15. Utah had no change with a count of 11 rigs and West Virginia stayed at 10. Wyoming added a rig to reach 19 total.
