Discussing the latest on cattle markets, Bob Rodenberger, a partner with Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing, said, “The numbers are a little lighter overall the state completely. Oklahoma City and El Reno have pretty much seen normal numbers to what they saw a year ago.”

Whether farmers/ranchers are selling stockers, feeder cattle, or cull cows, the market is “outstanding,” he said. “If you are a seller, today is a great place to be.”

Rodenberger said he is hearing from people who are looking for replacement cows now that some ponds are full, and grass is starting to recover. “They are getting their minds back to wanting to replace some of the cull cows they sold last year.”

He said he expects to see some lighter runs in the next few weeks. “Everybody who was looking to try and sell anything early has the ability now to keep them until their normal term,” Rodenberger said.
