Software provides street, fleet asset management

LAWTON – A contract on software that provides “integrated roadway asset management and fleet management” for the Public Works Department was approved recently by the Lawton City Council.

The “OpenGov Transportation Domain” software will allow the department to maintain “a comprehensive inventory of roadway and fleet assets, track maintenance and lifecycle costs, evaluate asset conditions, and develop data-driven maintenance and replacement strategies.”

The platform will enhance the department’s ability to “prioritize roadway maintenance and rehabilitation projects based on asset condition, available funding, pavement maintenance policy, and industry best practices,” Public Works Director Rusty Whisenhunt said.

The system also will support long-term planning efforts “by providing consistent and repeatable methods for evaluating transportation infrastructure and fleet assets,” he added.

The $115,805 contract with Vertosoft was negotiated via the Sourcewell Purchasing Cooperative of which the City of Lawton is a member. The contract is based on a fouryear agreement but includes provisions that would allow the city to discontinue the serve in the future should funding not be appropriated.
