OKLAHOMA CITY – Unemployment in Oklahoma creped up again in November but remained below the national rate, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported recently.
Oklahoma’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.2% from May through September, then inched up to 3.3% in October and increased again in November to 3.4%, BLS ledgers show. In comparison, the jobless rate in Oklahoma in November 2018 was recorded at 2.88%.
Nationally, the jobless rate in November was 3.5%, the BLS reported. The civilian labor force in Oklahoma numbered 3,900 fewer in November 2019 than it did in the same month last year, and non-farm employment shrunk by 4,400 during that same period, while the number of jobless residents in November 2019 was 10,000 higher than it was in November 2018, records reflect.
