Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt was among 25 Republican governors who wrote the White House this week asking the president to remove his freeze on permits for LNG export projects.
“As governors, we are very concerned by the Biden administration’s move to pause approvals of new liquified natural gas export projects, especially after Iran’s recent attack on Israel,” they stated in their letter.
Stitt and the other governors said the president’s decision to pause new approvals “undermines our economic and national security and the security of our allies.
“It creates instability and threatens future energy security throughout the world at a time when our allies need us the most. I t sends a message that the U.S. is not a reliable energy partner,” added the governors.
They asked Biden to reverse the decision and lift the pause so the country can retain its global energy advantage.
In addition to Stitt, the others include Govs. Kay Ivey (Ala.), Mike Dunleavy (Alaska), Sarah Sanders (Ark.), Ron DeSantis (Fla.), Brian Kemp (Ga.), Brad Little (Idaho), Eric Holcomb (Ind.), Kim Reynolds (Iowa), Jeff Landry (La.), Tate Reeves (Miss.), Mike Parson (Mo.), Greg Gianforte (Mont.), Jim Pillen (Neb.), Chris Sununu (N.H.), Doug Burgum (N.D.), Mike DeWine (Ohio), Henry McMaster (S.C.), Kristi Noem (SD), Bill Lee (TN), Greg Abbott (TX), Spencer Cox (UT), Glenn Youngkin (VA), Jim Justice (W.Va.) and Mark Gordon (Wyo.).
