OKLAHOMA CITY – State Representative Jay Steagall (R-Yukon) will hold an interim study to evaluate how hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used to improve the quality of life for veterans as well as many other Oklahomans.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) serves to give patients an increased intake of oxygen while they are inside a pressurized chamber. For years, it has been used by many Americans – including veterans – to relieve or alleviate issues that accompany several types of brain injuries as well as many other medical conditions.
“This therapy has been used to treat issues such as the many forms of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) – including concussions, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), mental illness, the reduction of dependency on anti-depressants and opioids, and so much more,” Steagall said. “We have a great line-up of speakers and look forward to discovering how Oklahoma can better use this technology.” The study will take place before the House Health Services and Long-Term Care Committee, at 1 p.m., Tues- day, Oct. 22, in Room 432-A at the state Capitol, 2300 N.
Lincoln Blvd. Rep. Jay Steagall serves District 43 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and House Chair of the House and Senate Veterans Caucus. He can be contacted by email at Jay.Steagall@okhouse.gov or by phone at (405) 557-7352.
