WASHINGTON, D.C. “America is in the middle of the worst chronic health crisis since we became a nation. Since 1980, our nation’s diet-related chronic disease rates have troublingly surged,” according to officials with the Trump administration.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that more than 40% of the roughly 73 million children in America have at least one chronic health condition. Three-quarters of America’s youth are not eligible for military service due to their health.

Studies show these numbers are the result of poor health habits that more times than not are ingrained from childhood. The Trump administration is addressing this issue by updating the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2025-2030.

According to the USDA, by amending the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, President Trump is putting the well-being of Americans first. According to the Trump administration, after decades of misguided nutritional advice, the president is also delivering on his promise to realign the government based on common sense, science-backed policy.

In the last year, the administration has focused on putting real food back at the center of the American diet by working alongside rural America and to restore small, local, and regional operations. Making milk, raising cattle, growing wholesome fruits, vegetables, and grains hold the key to solving our national health crisis.

“The Trump administration is laying the groundwork for revitalization—which is rooted in the real, nutritious food grown by our farmers and ranchers,” Drs. Ben Carson, USDA National Advisor for Nutrition, Health, and Housing, and Mehmet Oz, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said earlier.

“By focusing on what we grow, what we serve, and what we choose to serve, we can Make America Healthy Again,” said the USDA.
