The nation saw a gain of active oil and gas rigs over the past w eek as the rig count grew by two to reach 619, according to the Bak er Hughes rig count released Friday.
The gain included 5 oil rigs to reach a total of 511 w hile the number of gas-drilling rigs fell by 3, leaving 106 active across the country.
Oklahoma recorded a gain of one to reach 45 rigs, compared to the 56 reported a year earlier. Texas still led the nation with a 296 after a gain of two rigs.
New Mexico’s count fell by one to 108 while North Dakota remained steady at 32. Co lorado held its count at 15. K ansas gained two rigs to reach 31 while Ohio’s count fell by one to 11.
The Red Top Rig Report in Wichita indicated Kansas added two rigs to reach 31 in the past w eek.
Pennsylvania was unchanged at 22 and Louisiana added one to reach a total of 40 rigs . Utah remained at 12 a nd West Virginia stayed at 8. Wyoming continued with 11 rigs.
Of the various oil plays, the Permian remained tops with 318 rigs after adding two over the past week, according to Baker Hughes Co.
The Eagle Ford saw no change with its count of 55 a nd the Haynesville stayed at 34 w hile the Marcellus was unchanged at 30 rigs. The Williston Basin remained at 34.
The Ardmore Woodford continued with one rig, as did the Ar koma Woodford. The Cana Woodford added two to reach 22 rigs w hile the Barnett play continued with no reported drilling activity.
The D-J Basin stayed at 11 rigs and the Granite Wash saw a gain of two to reach 6 rigs. The Mississippian was unchanged with only one rig. The count in the U tica fell one to 11.
