Rig Report: State, U.S. rig counts unchanged for second week

From staff reports Drilling rig activity in the United States remained mostly unchanged in the past week with a count of 589 rigs, according to the most recent Rig Report from Baker Hughes Co. It also showed Oklahoma’s count of 43 rigs was unchanged from the Dec. 27 week to Jan. 3.

Multiple efforts underway in Lawton to relieve complex homeless issue

Volunteers fanned out across cities, towns and rural areas last January to count as many homeless people in America that they could find. Those results, released on December 27, were bleak. The number of homeless people in the U.S. had climbed to the highest level on record: 771,000.

Wagoner County commissioners agreed to an out-ofcourt settlement of a civil rights lawsuit against Sheriff Chris Elliott over the death of a Type 1 diabetic woman in the county jail. The cost: $13.5 million.
