LAWTON – Comanche County District 1 County Commissioner John Donavon O’Brien was suspended from office May 7 after a multicounty grand jury recommended his ouster.

Council appoints new Lawton city attorney

From staff reports LAWTON – John R. Andrew has been appointed as the new city attorney.The City Council’s decision April 29 came after a seven-month search for an individual who will represent the City of Lawton’s legal interests before judicial and administrative agencies.Andrew joined the U.S.
This plaque is displayed outside the Lawton City Council Chambers, which will be dedicated as “Wayne Gilley Auditorium” during the City Council meeting at 2 p.m. May 14. Gilley (1915-1990) served as Mayor of Lawton for 24 years – 1961-72 and 1975-89 – making him the longest-serving mayor in the city’s history.
