Water Board OKs $72M Chickasha loan; City talking to Chickasaws about water

OKLAHOMA CITY – A loan of up to $72 million to finance construction of a new, larger water treatment plant in Chickasha was approved Tuesday by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.

Postage costs increase again

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The price of a first-class mail “Forever” stamp increased recently for the second time this year. The cost for mailing a 1-ounce first-class letter was raised to 66 cents on Sunday, six months after the price increased to 63 cents.

Weeds, blocked crossings a concern to city council

CHICKASHA — Tall weeds and blocked railroad crossings are current concerns to City Council members and their constituents. Weeds are “out of control” in Chickasha, Ward 1 Councilwoman Kea Ginn said during a recent council meeting. “We’re writing citations,” City Manager Keith Johnson responded.

Swimming pool to be evaluated

CHICKASHA — The swimming pool in Shannon Springs Park will be evaluated to give city officials some indication of whether it needs to be renovated or replaced.

Lawton church continues to honor Korean War veterans

LAWTON — For the past 11 years, New Light United Methodist Church has held a service in late June to honor all of Comanche County’s Korean War veterans.
The budget for maintenance of Shannon Springs Park increased for Fiscal Year 2024. In addition, a $1.8 million project will replace the asphalt trails in the 50-acre park with concrete paths and will finance erosion control measures around the park’s 4.5-acre pond. Chickasha budget for FY ’24 conservative

CHICKASHA — The budgets approved for the Municipal Authority, the Airport Authority, and the city’s General Fund for Fiscal Year 2023-24 are all higher than last year’s. General Fund expenditures for FY 24 are projected at $21.44 million, a 1.25% increase over FY 23.
