Filming of movie in Chickasha extended for 2 more weeks

CHICKASHA – The temporary closure of four blocks of streets here for production on a feature film will extend for two more weeks beyond the original deadline. The City Council on June 5 authorized the closure of two blocks of S. 17th Street, between W. Iowa Avenue and W.

Portion of Visitor Center to be sublet for retail sales

CHICKASHA — The Municipal Authority voted to allow the Community Foundation to sublease a portion of the Visitor Center as retail space “for the convenience of the public and to help defer … maintenance costs” of the new Downtown Park.

Contract awarded to repair storm-damaged intersection

CHICKASHA — Reconstruction of a storm-damaged intersection on the southwest side of town will take three weeks to three months to complete, Public Works Director Jim Crosby has estimated.

Elgin Council discusses partnership with CCMH

ELGIN — Elgin may team up with Comanche County Memorial Hospital to build a stand-alone emergency room and a primary care center at the city’s industrial park. The Elgin City Council discussed the possibility with CCMH’s executive director, Sean McAvoy, on June 13 but did not take any action.
