Gas prices continue to fall

OKLAHOMA CITY – While U.S. wholesale gasoline prices at the end of August dropped to their lowest levels since before Russia’s war against Ukraine, prices in Oklahoma fell to a statewide average $3.43 a gallon. Pump prices in southwest Oklahoma slipped even lower prior to the Labor Day holiday.

Elk hunt applications due by Sept. 16

LAWTON – Applications for Lawton’s elk hunt are now available to the public. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Sept. 16 to the Lawton city clerk’s office, 212 SW Ninth St., or the Parks and Recreation Lakes Division at 23510 state Highway 58, Lawton. The drawing will be held at 4:15 p.m.

Lawton Library announces September events


LAWTON – The Lawton Public Library is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month. During the month of September, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child signs up for their own library card, according to a news release from the library.

Veterans reminded to sign up for state registry

LAWTON – Disabled veterans who rely on their sales tax exemption to help them save money could lose the benefit if they fail to register with a state-sponsored database by July 1, 2023.
