Garvin says pro-life movement's work is 'far from over'

OKLAHOMA CITY – Although the controversial Roe v. Wade case has been overturned, one Oklahoma lawmaker believes the work for the pro-life movement is far from over. State Sen. Jessica Garvin (R-Duncan) praised the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision, but didn’t stop there.

Turner, O’Brien to square off again in August runoff

LAWTON – Two of the three candidates for the District 1 seat on the Comanche County Board of Commissioners made it past Tuesday’s GOP primary election. Longtime Commissioner Gail Turner led the three-candidate field with 983 votes, or 44.14% of the total, according to unofficial election results.

City considers hotel/motel tax allocations for FY ’23

LAWTON – The Lawton Economic Development Corp. will receive $313,000 in hotel/motel tax funds for fiscal year 2023. The rest of the organization’s funding – $462,300 -- will come from the city’s PROPEL Capital Improvements Program.

County approves ARPA allocations for towns

LAWTON – Cache and Elgin will each receive $487,500 from Comanche County’s share of American Rescue Plan Act dollars, while Indiahoma and Faxon will get $100,000 apiece. Chattanooga, Fletcher, Geronimo, Medicine Park, and Sterling will each get $225,000.
