Walker, West in runoff for district judge

LAWTON – Jay Walker and Neil West finished first and second, respectively, in Tuesday’s primary election for district judge for District 5, Office 3. Walker led the pack with 5,268 votes, or 32.70% of the total, according to unofficial election results, West came in second with 5,253 votes, or 32.

Johnson wins chance to retain commissioner seat

ALTUS – Jackson County Commissioner Rhet Johnson swept to a Republican primary win in his second re-election bid Tuesday night. Johnson, elected in 2018 to his first full term, received 483 votes (72%) compared to 188 (28%) for GOP opponent Michael Hamersley.

Powers wins 3rd District seat

LAWTON – Josh Powers has unseated Comanche County Commissioner Alvin Cargill in the race for the District 3 seat on the commission. Powers captured 1,470 votes in Tuesday’s primary election, or 58.08% of the total, according to unofficial election results. Cargill finished with 1,061 votes, or 41.

Stitt wins primary, but other GOP hopefuls face runoffs

OKLAHOMA CITY – Republican Governor Kevin Stitt coasted to an easy primary victor last Tuesday evening, capturing 69% of the vote in a four-way contest. Roughly 500,000 of the state’s more than 2.2 million registered voters participated in the election. Stitt captured 248,355 votes.

Recounts requested in Oklahoma, Nowata counties

​OKLAHOMA CITY – Petitions for recounts in county office races in Oklahoma and Nowata counties were filed with the State Election Board prior to the 5 p.m. Friday deadline. ​In Nowata County, Ryan S. Harden filed for a recount in the County Assessor’s race.

Stitt, Lankford easily defeat primary opponents

OKLAHOMA CITY — Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt and U.S. Sen. James Lankford easily defeated their opponents in Tuesday’s Republican primary election. Just about 30 minutes after the polls closed, the Associated Press called the race for both Stitt and Lankford. As of 7:30 p.m.

Primary election turnout remains steady

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahomans returned to the polls Tuesday to narrow the field for the November statewide election. Tuesday’s election has, so far, been without any major problems, Election Board Spokesman Misha Mohr said.
