City council candidate stricken from ballot

LAWTON – The Comanche County Election Board disqualified a candidate for the Ward 4 seat on the Lawton City Council Wednesday. After a short hearing, the board voted 3-0 to strike Derek M. Lemos Sr.’s name from the ballot for the Aug. 23 primary election.

Loan to finance new computer system for City of Lawton Water Department

LAWTON – The Oklahoma Water Resources Board approved a $5 million low-interest loan that will enable the Lawton Water Authority to replace its antiquated computerized system that operates the municipal water treatment and distribution systems.

County approves list of ARPA-funded projects

LAWTON – Comanche County Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 Monday on a list of projects that will be funded with the county’s share of American Rescue Plan Act dollars. Commissioner Gail Turner was absent, but his first deputy, Kenny Curry, filled in for him.

Hochatown Residents Ask Supreme Court to Intercede in Incorporation Fight

OKLAHOMA CITY – The citizens group seeking to incorporate Hochatown – a small, thriving community in southeastern Oklahoma – took their case to the Oklahoma Supreme Court Wednesday, asking the court to intercede in the dispute between the community and the McCurtain County Board of Commissioners.
