Epic founders, former CFO arrested

Epic Charter Schools founders Ben Harris and David Chaney, and former chief financial officer Josh Brock, were arrested Thursday on suspicion of racketeering and other charges. Harris, Chaney and Brock were taken into custody at about 10 a.m.

Hochatown Residents Ask Supreme Court to Intercede in Incorporation Fight

OKLAHOMA CITY – The citizens group seeking to incorporate Hochatown – a small, thriving community in southeastern Oklahoma – took their case to the Oklahoma Supreme Court Wednesday, asking the court to intercede in the dispute between the community and the McCurtain County Board of Commissioners.

Loan to finance new computer system for City of Lawton Water Department

LAWTON – The Oklahoma Water Resources Board approved a $5 million low-interest loan that will enable the Lawton Water Authority to replace its antiquated computerized system that operates the municipal water treatment and distribution systems.

Severe staffing shortages and operational inefficiencies within Oklahoma’s prison system are placing a legal and financial burden on the state, examiners from the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency wrote in a draft report released on Thursday.

Thousands of pounds of venison given to local food pantries each deer season

Oklahoma consistently ranks as one of the hungriest states in the nation. Through a cooperative agreement, several tons of venison are donated each year to food pantries across the state, providing thousands of nutritious meals.
