El Reno wastewater treatment plant manager admits fraud

OKLAHOMA CITY – The former manager of El Reno’s municipal wastewater treatment plant admitted violating the federal Clean Water Act by tampering with and rendering inaccurate a monitoring protocol that enabled him to falsify wastewater samples.

Former President Ronald Reagan was fond of saying that the nine most frightening words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”             A key component of Lawton’s 2019 Capital Improvements Plan was an indoor youth sports complex.

'Not the place for it' Residents object to sports complex's planned park site

LAWTON – When the Lawton City Council approved a proposal to build the city’s youth sports complex in Elmer Thomas Park, several residents complained that the park would be spoiled.

Survey: 52% of organizations planning for merit increases

WALTHAM, Mass. – Faced with a persistently competitive labor market, 52% of the organizations in a survey of pay practices and compensation strategies are boosting funding for merit increases, according to Salary.com’s Annual Pay Practices and Compensation Strategy Survey.

Deere reports quarterly net income of $903M

MOLINE, Ill. – Deere and Co. reported net income of $903 million for the first quarter ending Jan. 30, or $2.92 per share, the company said in a news release.   By comparison, the company reported net income of $1.22 billion, or $3.87 per share, for the quarter ended Jan. 31, 2021.

Research: Employers reporting more candidate ghosting

MENLO PARK, Calif. – Candidate ghosting is taking an increasing toll on employers, according to research from the Robert Half consulting firm.   Nearly four in 10 respondents (39%) said it’s more common for job candidates to cut off communication now than it was two years ago, the firm stated.

USDA: Rainfall totals averaged 1.03 inches in February

February’s rainfall totals averaged 1.03 inches throughout Oklahoma, with the southeast district recording the highest precipitation at 1.96 inches and the Panhandle district recording the lowest amount at 0.14 of an inch, according to the U.S.

Frederick Oyster Fry changed to Fish Fry for 2022
