Viridian Coffee confirms new Elgin Square store

ELGIN — Duncan-based Viridian Coffee recently confirmed the popular southwest Oklahoma coffee purveyor will open a new store in Elgin Square — a retail shopping center under construction just off U.S. 277 near the H.E. Bailey Turnpike in Elgin.

Virtual library marks checkout milestone

Oklahomans in search of something new to read or listen to flocked to OK Virtual Library, a public library system that allows people to borrow e-books and audiobooks, in record numbers last year. People checked out 1.

Omni Hotel OKC opens Tuesday

OKLAHOMA CITY – It was a cold and gray Tuesday morning in downtown Oklahoma City. And while it was dreary outside, inside the recently opened Omni Oklahoma City Hotel the interior was warm and inviting and a sight to behold.

Historical Society requests budget increase

OKLAHOMA CITY – Steep budget cuts in recent years have caused the Oklahoma Historical Society to shrink its inventory and pare its payroll. But after years of budget cuts, the agency is asking the Legislature this year to “make up for our loss of revenue” blamed on the coronavirus pandemic.

Halliburton Co. (HAL) on Tuesday reported a loss of $235 million in its fourth quarter. The Houston-based company said it had a loss of 27 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 18 cents per share. The results exceeded Wall Street expectations.

Thirty-two percent of Oklahoma was in the moderate to exceptional drought categories, up 12 points from the previous year, according to the Jan. 19 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Just 12% of the state was in the moderate to exceptional drought categories, compared to 9% from the previous year.
