New area code goes into effect April 24

OKLAHOMA CITY – A fifth area code will be introduced in Oklahoma starting April 24 next year and will affect dialing procedures. Area code 572 will overlay the existing 405 area code and will cover the same geographic region of central Oklahoma.

Electricity lines are rarely buried

OKLAHOMA CITY – Even after a destructive ice storm, Public Service Co. of Oklahoma rarely buries electric lines. As a general rule, PSO buries power lines “to address specific operational issues such as voltage or capacity issues,” said Stan Whiteford, the utility’s region communications manager.
