Department of Corrections provides free phone calls

As compensation for suspending all visitation and volunteer access to state penal institutions effective March 13, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections inked an agreement to provide every inmate with two free 5-minute-long telephone calls each week.

Election Board secretary declares emergency

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax on March 18 declared an emergency for local elections scheduled on April 7 in 74 counties, including several in southwest Oklahoma.

'Remember nursing home residents,' says head of Texas facility

OKLAHOMA CITY – A young woman who lives in a small Texas city a little over an hour south of Lawton and 30 minutes northwest of Wichita Falls recently penned a heartfelt post on Facebook in which she urged the public to remember nursing center patients during the coronavirus crisis.
