Oklahoma’s rainfall totals averaged 0.54 of an inch in February, with the southeast district reporting the highest precipitation at 1.4 inches and the Panhandle recording the least at 0.17 of an inch.
Twenty-seven percent of the state fell in the moderate to exceptional drought categories, up 13 points from last year, according to the Feb. 16 U.S. Drought Monitor Report.
Statewide temperatures averaged in the mid-to high 20s in February. The lowest temperature was -22 degrees Feb. 16 at Goodwell and Burbank, and the highest was 80 degrees Feb. 3 at Goodwell.
Small grains: Grazed winter wheat reached 48%, down seven points from the previous year. Grazed rye reached 22%, eight points lower than the previous year. Grazed oats came in at 36%, down four points from the previous year.
Pasture and range condition was rated at 61% poor to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 78% good to fair.
