Tax filing deadline extended 60 days

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahomans now have an extra 60 days, until June 15, to pay their 2020 individual and business income taxes and their first-quarter 2021 estimated income tax payments.

As a result of the recent disaster declaration issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Internal Revenue Service announced the tax deadline extension for all individuals who live in or own a business in any of Oklahoma’s 77 counties. This is intended to provide relief for those who were affected by February’s historic winter storms.

After the IRS announcement the Oklahoma Tax Commission on Wednesday ordered an identical payment deadline extension for individuals and businesses, to provide further relief to Oklahoma taxpayers.

Due dates for other tax types, including sales and withholding, remain the same.

A similar tax payment deadline extension was authorized last year because of the disruption caused by the global coronavirus pandemic. The state and federal tax payment deadlines last year were pushed back three months, to July 15, 2020.
