2 file for Lawton mayoral race

The race for the mayor’s seat on the Lawton City Council has drawn two candidates so far.

Mayor Stan Booker, who is seeking his second term in office, and challenger Sherene Williams are both vying for the mayor’s slot. No one else had filed for the position as of Tuesday afternoon.

Lawton voters will choose their next mayor when they go to the polls Sept. 14. In addition to the mayor’s seat, both Ward 1 and Ward 2 slots are open.

Filing period for the municipal election began Monday and ended Wednesday.
