The city of Lawton’s Stormwater Management Division will host a rain harvesting drive-through workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Elmer Thomas Park near the Holiday House.
Barrels and cisterns provide a cost-effective alternative to using tap water for watering yards and reduce stormwater runoff, according to City Hall. All workshop participants who purchase a barrel or cistern will receive step-by-step instructions on how to build and install a rain harvesting system.
A 55-gallon barrel will cost $20, and a 250-gallon cistern will cost $50. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. No pre-orders or reserves will be accepted.
The limit is one barrel or cistern per participant/address. Cash (exact amount) or check only.
The workshop is open to Lawton residents only, and proof of residency is required.
