The Lawton City Council recently approved revised hours for the city’s recreation centers, along with the operating hours for aquatics facilities for the 2022 season.
Recreation centers
The following are the updated hours for Lawton’s three recreation centers, which include the HC King Center, the Owens Multipurpose Center and the Patterson Center. The new hours for each recreation center will go into effect May 31.
HC King Center (1705 NW 20th St.)
- 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday
Owens Multipurpose Center (1405 SW 11th St.)
- 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday
Patterson Center (4 NE Arlington Dr.)
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday
The council authorized each center to be open from 1-5 p.m. Saturdays, but the centers will not practice these hours until adequate staffing is available. The city will announce when the centers are able to open on Saturdays.
Aquatics hours
The following are the operating hours for Lawton’s aquatics facilities for this season.
Municipal Pool (SW 11th St. and SW J Ave.)
- Opens May 21 with special hours. The pool will kick off the summer season with a Pool Splash Bash from 2-7 p.m. that day.
- Noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.
- To rent the pool, call the Parks and Recreation Department at (580) 581-3400.
Wading Pools (35th Division Park, Harmon Park and Mocine Park)
- The wading pools will open May 31.
- Operating hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday
Clement Washington Sr. Splash Pad (SW Sixth St. and SW Belmont Ave.)
- The splash pad will open May 31.
- Hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday
Elmer Thomas Splash Pad (Elmer Thomas Park)
- The splash pad will open May 28.
- Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday
All aquatics facilities will be closed May 30 for Memorial Day.
