LAWTON – The Owens Center, 1405 SW 11th St., will be closed from 3-8 p.m. Thursday and again from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday to accommodate the Southwest Oklahoma Stand Down for Homeless Veterans event.
Closing on Thursday will give the center time to prepare for the event, according to a news release from City Hall. Stand Down is happening Friday and is free for homeless veterans. Breakfast will begin at 6:30 a.m., services for veterans will be offered from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
The event is hosted by the Housing & Community Development Office in conjunction with the Lawton Housing Authority.
Services include meals, clothing, haircuts, toiletries, housing assistance, dental and medical screenings, substance abuse treatment and much more. For more information, contact Jervis Jackson at (580) 353-7397.
