LAWTON — The Lawton City Council recently declared all or part of 10 parks as surplus, which could lead to either closing or selling those parks.
Here are the parks that were deemed surplus, listed by ward:
Ward 1
• Baltimore Park, 1602 NW 33rd St.
• Atlanta Park, 1502 NW 33rd St.
• Charlie Ray Park, 2220 NW Williams Ave.
• Harold Park, 1420 NW 40th St.
• A portion of Stephens Park, 1804 NW 23rd St.
Ward 2
• Military Park, 1709 NW Lindy Ave.
• Carroll Park, 1236 NW Carroll Ave.
Ward 3
• 33rd Street Park, 808 NW 33rd St.
Ward 5
• B.O. Davis Park, 601 SW F Ave.
Ward 6
• Great Plains Park, 1711 NW 67th St.
The council delayed action on the following Ward 7 parks:
• Park Ridge Park, 4600 SW Malcolm Road.
• Rolling Hills Park, located south of Park Ridge Park.
• Part of Sullivan Village Park, 602 SE 38th St.
• Part of James Edward Thornton Park, also known as Southside Park, 1308 SW Tennessee Ave.
Sungate Park, located in Ward 4, was dropped from the list because it is a well site. None of the parks in Ward 8 were on the list.
