Oklahoma rainfall averages 1.49 inches

Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 1.49 inches for the week of July 10-16, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. 

The July 11 U.S. Drought Monitor Report said drought conditions were rated 57% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, down 43 points from last
year. Additionally, 24% of the state was in the moderate to exceptional drought categories, down 39 points from the previous year. 

Statewide temperatures averaged in the upper 70s to low 80s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated adequate to short.

Here’s a snapshot of how crops performed for the week:
Small grains: Canola harvested reached 95%, up eight points from the previous week.

Rye harvested reached 95%, up nine points from the previous week.

Oats harvested reached 63%, down 17 points from the previous year and 11 points from normal.
Row crops: The recent rains and warmer temperatures allowed row crops to progress quickly.

Corn silking reached 54%, up 13 points from the previous year and eight points from normal. Corn dough reached 15%, up 15 points from the previous year. 

Sorghum headed reached 11%, down eight points from the previous year and nine points from normal. 

Soybeans planted reached 95%. Soybeans emerged reached 86%, down two points from the previous year but up 2 points from normal. Soybeans blooming reached 15%, up three points from the previous year but down one point from normal.
Peanuts pegging reached 20%, down 22 points from the previous year and 23 points from normal.

Cotton squaring reached 32%, down 21 points from the previous year and 20 points from normal.
Hay: The second cutting of alfalfa hay reached 83%, down six points from the previous year and three points from normal. The third cutting of alfalfa hay reached 24%, up six points from the previous year but down six points from normal.

The first cutting of other hay reached 92%. The second cutting of other hay reached 24%, down 10 points from the previous year and three points from normal.
Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 82 % good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 89% good to fair.
